Next Meeting: April 11, 2017. 5:30 PM
SOPO Code Enforcement Office
496 Ocean St., South Portland, ME
SOPO/CE Buy Local Members,
This is a CALL TO ACTION for all members of the Buy Local. We are asking for people to step up and volunteer for the Executive Board and also volunteer to be Board Members. As many of you are aware, our current Executive Board and Board Members have been actively involved for the past five years. There have been some minor changes here and there, but there has been a core group of people, working to ensure the function of this organization. We have reached a time where, those of us who have been running the show, need to step back and focus on our own businesses. The time commitment is minimal and extremely rewarding! If you are interested, please contact us and we can aid in this transition. Without your help, we fear the Buy Local’s future is in danger.
Over the last five years, we have successfully started an annual Bug Light Festival and provided 2 Scholarships for graduating seniors at both South Portland High School and Cape Elizabeth High School; we have sponsored numerous local events including the Strawberry Festival, Willard Beach Festival, WinterFest and Knightville Festival; we have been involved in numerous other activities around our towns and are proud of the connections we have made! We have offered the SOPO/CE Directories to over 15,000 people each year and have helped each member grow in some way.
Please know: If no one is able to step up to the roles, we as an organization will be folding. We have thought long and hard about this and are passionate about the Buy Local and our communities, but we can no longer go on without increased member participation in the Executive Board and overall in the organization. Our next meeting will be on April 11, 2017 at 5:30. Please mark your calendars for this meeting, as your attendance is vital to the survival of the SOPO/CE Buy Local.
Your SOPO/CE Executive Board and Active Board Members.
